Our Newest Addition

After having to be induced because our little man was 4 days late, we are so pleased to welcome our son.

Born September 29, 2013 @ 11:36 am

8 lbs 1 oz, 20.5 inches long

We are in love.

So far, he’s been a great newborn and the perfect addition to our family.

Elodie is still getting used to sharing her mommy & daddy with a new baby, but luckily Chris’s parents were here this week to help give her the extra attention she needed.

I’ll write more about his birth, how we chose his name, etc. later, but for now, I’ll just share a few pictures from his first couple of days with us.

More Summer Things

Here’s more of what we’ve been up to this summer.

After nearly 3 years of being married, Chris and I finally updated our bedroom furniture. We bought all new furniture including a king-sized bed, 2 night stands, a dresser/mirror & entertainment stand and a new mattress & bedding. We are loving it so far. I wish I was sleeping better, but at nearly 7 months preggo, this baby is already making me too uncomfortable to really enjoy it. Maybe one day šŸ˜‰

The good news is, now that we have new bedroom furniture, our old stuff is in our guest room & ready for guests! If you haven’t come to visit us yet and see our new house, now is the time! You have a room to yourself!

New Bedding

New Bedding

Speaking of being nearly 7 months preggo, a few weeks ago I entered my third trimester. I honestly don’t think it’s possible to get much bigger than I am in this picture, but unfortunately it’s going to happen. I do not remember feeling this huge with Elodie, but the doc says he’s measuring right on time. Here’s to another 2 1/2 months of waiting!

3rd Trimester!

3rd Trimester!

While we wait for the baby boy, we finally got around to furnishing his nursery. I’m pretty sure that by the time I was 7 months with Elodie we had nearly everything done… but I guess that’s the joys of being be the oldest child.

We bought a dresser and crib and I think we decided on bedding, which we still need to order. Once we get the bedding, we can paint & etc. At least this is a start..

Elodie is beyond excited to meet her brother. Every day she tells me “I want my baby brother to come out now. I miss him.” I tell her that I feel the same way but he needs to get a little bigger & stronger before he can come out and meet us. She loves him so much already. She’s such a sweet baby girl.

I can’t recall if I’ve mentioned this or not, but my sister, brother-in-law and nephew moved down here this summer from Nashville. They are both teachers and were able to get jobs in Chris’s school district. They stayed with us temporarily while they found a place to live & we enjoyed having a house full of family.

My mom also recently moved a little closer to our new house & now we’re all within 20-25 min of each other. It’ll be really nice to have everyone so close when the new baby arrives.

Seeing Monsters University--first movie in the movie theater

Seeing Monsters University–first movie in the movie theater

We took Elodie to see her first movie in the movie theater. We saw Monster’s University. Elodie loves Monster’s Inc., so we were really excited to take her to see the second one. She’s 2 and a half, and obviously didn’t sit through the whole thing, but she did have fun and enjoyed her popcorn. She was really well behaved and just jumped around from my lap, to Chris’s lap, to her seat & jumped around some more in between. I even took her to see Despicable Me 2 a few days ago by myself & she did even better! What a fun new phase in her life.

I can’t even express how thankful I am to have this summer to spend with Elodie, just the three of us, before our new addition arrives. We need to be sure to set aside Elodie time, without the baby.

Hubs Pre-Peachtree

Hubs Pre-Peachtree

Just like last year on July 4th, Chris ran the Peachtree Road Race again. I wished I would have been able to, but it didn’t seem too appealing being pregnant & all. I did sign up for it, but ended up transferring my number to someone else. The weather forecast was less than favorable, so Elodie and I didn’t go cheer everyone on, but Chris said the rain held off for the majority of the race. He pulled a muscle in his calf while he was running, and is still somewhat recovering. I guess it was a pretty eventful day. I hope to be back out there next year! I’ve been anxiously awaiting being able to start running again.

After the race, we spent some time celebrating the 4th with some good friends. Our friends Jessie & Ben live right in downtown Atlanta and their building has a perfect rooftop view of the Centennial Park fireworks–some of the only fireworks that didn’t cancel because of the weather.

July 4th Celebrations

July 4th Celebrations

Elodie loved watching the fireworks, so it ended up being a great evening.

We only have 2 1/2 weeks left of summer before we go back to school. During these remaining days we will celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary, make a trip up to the beach with Chris’s family, and Chris will finish up his summer semester of grad school. We’re staying busy, but we’ve been enjoying ourselves.

Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Three

Three.

In about three months our family ofĀ three,Ā which we’ve been accustomed to for almostĀ three years, will become a family of four. Life as we know it will never be the same.

Eating donuts with Daddy

Eating donuts with Daddy

We’ve been so blessed with Elodie. She has such a sweet soul and is the most affectionate child I’ve ever met. She is constantly giving kisses, requesting cuddles and making sure her “baby brother” is happy in momma’s belly. I have no doubt that she will be an amazing big sister.

Princess Elodie

Princess Elodie

Our lives over the past (almost) three years, have been a whirlwind, and having a newborn/baby around seems like such a distant memory. This child is so grown-up & independent, it’s scary sometimes. I know describing life with a kiddo as “easy,” might seem silly, but that’s how I feel these days. She’s at a perfect age. Do we even remember how to parent a newborn?

Floating with Daddy

I am absolutely loving having this summer off to spend time with her, while it’s just the three of us. I’m trying to soak up and enjoy every second of it.

Morning cuddles = best time of the day!

I know I will love the boy just as much as I love sweet Elodie, but it’s just crazy to think about how things are going to change. And this change is right around the corner.

24 Weeks–a few weeks ago

I really have no point to make; these are just a few things I’ve been thinking about quite a bit lately. I cannot wait for September.

Have to utilize these when they are available.

I cannot wait to see how Elodie jumps into her new role of big sissy. I cannot wait to parent a little boy. I cannot wait to be Watson: Party of 4.

Three more months until my due date. Three months until our family of three adds a new member.

Are you as excited to meet this little guy as I am?

Baby BOY!

We found out on friday that our newest addition to the Watson Family is a BOY!!

There's no denying this one is a boy!

While Chris and I were both hopingĀ for a boy, we honestly would have been happy with either, as long as the little bean is healthy. However, since he is a boy, we’re thrilled! Chris has his boy to play rough with and I have my momma’s boy. Elodie is going to be the best helper with her little brother.

We went out today & bought the very first thing for our new little man.

First Trimester: Zombieland

So my first trimester with baby #2 is officially over.Ā  In a word, itā€™s been exhausting.

When I was pregnant with Elodie, I was only taking 2 classes at KSU and working part-time doing after-school tutoring. I could fit in a nap most days, and aside from the 4+ months of throwing up on a daily basis, it was manageable.

This time aroundā€¦our life is totally different. I teach ALL DAY (extended day with no planning, only a 26-28 minute break for lunch) and we have a busy toddler to chase around after work. Chris has class 2 nights a week, so I pick Elodie up from her baby-sitters & the two of us are on our own for the evening. And lately, with all the house hunting we’ve been doing, it seems like all our free time is filled with all sorts of weird schedules. (We are under contract with a house (!!!), by the way, but more on that later).

Elodie goes to bed around 7:30 in the evenings, and Iā€™ve been passing out on the couch shortly thereafter. Ā Iā€™ve never been more exhausted in my life. I seriously feel like Iā€™m a zombie.

Around 11 weeks, I woke up & definitely felt more pregnant.

Around 11 weeks, I woke up & definitely felt more pregnant.

Our apartment is a mess, my classroom is a mess, and I feel like my life is a mess.

The weekends are somewhat of a relief for all of us because my mom usually comes over to keep Elodie entertained, while Chris and I Ā try and get our place in order/write lesson plans, I squeeze in a nap, etc. Luckily, Elodie & Gigi love spending time together, so this is a good arrangement for everyone.

On St. Patty's Day--12.5 weeks pregnant

On St. Patty’s Day–12.5 weeks pregnant

The only thing better this time around is the nausea. I feel a little sick in the mornings, but usually as soon as I eat something it goes away. My appetite is a little off, but it’s not nearly as bad as it was with Elodie. Although, the past couple of days, it seems to have gotten worse and I’ve actually been throwing up. I’m hoping it gets worse before it gets better very.quickly, right?

Rockin' all my maternity clothes--12 weeks 6 days

Rockin’ all my maternity clothes–12 weeks 6 days

As this first trimester comes to an end, Iā€™m hoping I start feeling a little more like myself. I’m certainly not looking like myself. My belly has definitely “popped.” I told my students around 11 weeks that I was pregnant, and they all graciously responded with Ā “we know, Mrs. Watson. Your belly was getting bigger, but nothing else was… and we know you run, so we figured you were pregnant.” I just appreciate them not saying anything sooner šŸ™‚ I teach 9th graders, by the way, so it’s pretty impressive that they didn’t burst sooner!

I’m pretty much only wearing maternity clothes, with a belly band thing for my pants that don’t button, so there’s that.

13 weeks!

13 weeks!

I have an appointment today to check on the babe, and hopefully during my appointment next month, we can find out the gender! I’m so excited to find out!! My students are dying to know šŸ˜‰

Pinterest Challenge: Counting the Weeks

If you missed the news, I just recently announced that we’re expecting baby #2. Since good ‘ol Pinterest wasn’t around with Elodie & life was crazy back then, I didn’t really document the first one. I knew I wanted a chance to document this one! Thanks to Pinterest, I found the perfect way to do so…

This Pinterest challenge came at a great time for me for me to share the shirt I made.

winter-challenge

I pinned this shirt tutorial a while back and I was hoping I’d get a chance to make it soon. Not long after I found out I was pregnant, I knew this was the first thing on my to-do list.

I went to Target & bought a plain white maternity shirt, then to a craft store to get stencils & fabric paint. Unfortunately, unlike the tutorial, I don’t have the supplies to make 1-40 stencils like she did, so I had to do them all separately using 0-9 stencils. Mine was probably more time consuming than hers, but it turned out great! Also unlike the tutorial, I didn’t make my fabric paint; I just bought red & black paint.

But then, using the stencils over & over again with the fabric paint.. I ran into an issue.

Whoops!

So my smart hubby suggested that I use a fabric pen instead. Great idea, right? Except.. you’ll need more than 1! BUY SEVERAL!

After a second trip to Target to getĀ anotherĀ plain white shirt.. I was back in business again.

It was smooth sailing from there & turned out great!

I added the “due: 9.25” as an extra touch! You like?

Exciting Announcement!

If you haven’t already heard, Elodie has an exciting announcement to make!

The picture we shared on Social Media

Super Excited Big Sister!

Super Excited Big Sister!

She’s going to be a big sister on or around September 25.

As of today, I’m 9 weeks + 2 days pregnant. And yes, I made a shirt to document my pregnancy, but I’ll share more on that later this week.

Me today: 9 weeks + 2 days

Me today: 9 weeks + 2 days

We found towards the end of January when I was only about 4 weeks. I had taken a test a few days before, but I think it was too early to tell. I was convinced it was positive even then, but didn’t want to get my hopes up. One morning before work, I took another one because I couldn’t wait any longer. We got this faint positive, and along with other symptoms I immediately started feeling, I knew it was for real!

A faint positive, but a positive nonetheless

The day we found out

The day we found out

We went to the doctor this past Monday to finally see our little munchkin. Everything looks great & the baby is measuring right on schedule.

Cutest little gummy bear

Cutest little gummy bear

Chris and I are so thrilled! When we talk to Elodie about it, she understands very little, but is convinced it’s a “boy baby.” When we show her the sonogram picture she always kisses it & says “cute baby!” She’s going to be a great big sister!!

Also, we will find out the gender of this little one as soon as we can, but just like with Elodie, the name will stay a secret until his/her birth.

Obviously there’s lots more to be said, but I’m just glad we are finally sharing the news. I don’t know how people make it all the way through the first trimester or more to spill the beans!

Now that the news is out, I’ll have several more posts on how I’ve been feeling + belly pictures + plans for baby #2 and etc.

No more long breaks in between posts! I promise šŸ™‚ Thanks for sticking around anyway!

PrePregnancy Bucket List

It’s no secret to anyone who has spent 10 minutes with me recently that I’m beyond ready for Baby Watson #2. Unfortunately, Baby Watson is ready yet, so in the meantime, I’ll enjoy not being pregnant. Yes, that’s right, I’m not pregnant–don’t worry, this isn’t a pregnancy announcement. This is a “okay, universe I’m ready” announcement.. hear that, universe? šŸ™‚

Anyway, one of my favorite bloggers made a PrePregnancy Bucket List when she was trying for her 2nd baby, so I thought it’d be fun to do the same.

So here’s my list, aka a bunch of crap to do before I look like this again:

Me, November 2010. Exactly a week before I went into labor with Elodie.

1) Buy a gosh darn house. Chris and I have been itching to buy a house ever since we’ve gotten married & before Elodie was born. We’ve never really been in a financial situation to do so, until now that we’re both working full time. So we’re saving away, along with paying down some debt, and will hopefully begin looking early next year.

2) Run some more races. I’ve definitely run more miles this year than I have in my whole life combined. Why stop now? We have another 10k coming up on Thanksgiving, and both Chris and I want to run a half marathon eventually. So, until I’m told I can no longer run, I’ll keep it up.

3) Soak up every last little second of Elodie being an only child. I can’t even fathom how our lives will change when/if another one comes along. So in the meantime, we’ll enjoy giving her our undivided attention.

Cheeeese!

4) Enjoy all that fall has to offer, including some of my favorite drinks that I could not enjoy while pregnant including a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte & seasonal beer.

The best thing fall has to offer

5) As the weather gets cooler, I can enjoy my boots before my feet swell and electric blankets.

6) This one sort of goes along with #2, but in addition to running I can focus on getting back to my pre-pregnancy weight. Yeah, so what if it’s been almost 2 years since Elodie was born and I may or may not still be carrying around a few extra pounds of “baby weight.” 6 pounds to go until I’m satisfied.

7) This one goes along with #1, but when we move I can help Chris paint our apartment/new house. I don’t necessarily enjoying painting, but picking out new paint colors for a new house sounds like one of the most exciting things ever. Along with doing any DIY things that need to be done when we move into a house.

8) Have/attend a holiday party. I can buy a cute Halloween costume or a pretty holiday dress without having to outfit a baby bump.

9) Celebrate Chris’ BFF’s wedding. He’s getting married on Memorial Day Weekend 2013, so I’d like to have a fun time at the wedding.

10) Enjoy NOT changing diapers since Elodie is now POTTY TRAINED and enjoy sleeping through the night, most nights.

11) Rack up those sick days at work.

I’m sure there’s more, but that’s all I can think of for now. So I’m off to have a drink and lay on my belly to watch TV.

Anything you’re looking to accomplish, baby related or not?

xoxo
